About Hannah:

Hi – I’m Hannah and I run Hannah’s Home Bakery. As a wife and mother of three little boys under five I do a lot of baking at home. I began my baking journey over 15 years ago now, whom I was taught by mother. Now with three children and living off of on one income, I am always looking for better ways to save some money, which usually begins right in the kitchen! Hence one of the many reasons I choose to bake.

I don’t claim to be an expert, I just enjoy sharing my recipes, tips and creativity on this page to hopefully inspire others. In baking, there are a lot of things you can only learn through practice which is what inspired me to create this page and to be able to share my learning experiences and journey with you.

I understand not everyone can be a baker and if you find the whole idea of baking stressful or relate it to disappointment than my site may not be for you. However, that being said, if you are like me – lover of good food and coffee then join me on my baking journey!

My Story

I’m happy to admit I am a lover of all foods –naughty and good.

Baking – in my opinion – is one of the most personal and intimate things you can do for someone. Baking is my passion. It is my thing. It is one of the qualities that defines me as a person. Baking provides me with comfort and contentment and is at the core of my identity.

Growing up, I spent a lot of my childhood in the kitchen with my Mom (yes, she is American). One thing I delightfully remember of my childhood was that my Mom always had home baked goods for me and my siblings to eat. I was raised on 170 acres of property with little resources, which required most of her baking and cooking to either be done by scratch or hand. Along with being a stay at home mother, it meant she was able to spend the time teaching me her skills, wisdom and knowledge. At the age of ten, I was able to knead and bake loaves of bread. Needless to say, I paid attention and had a natural talent and ability for baking at a very young age! As a result, I have adopted the ‘homemade’ and ‘make from scratch’ approach to all things in the kitchen in my own home.

Throughout high school I continued to improve my skills. By the end of Year 12, I had completed a Certificate four in Hospitality and had the opportunity to work in a kitchen at a restaurant. Realising my passion of baking was more prominent than cooking, I decided to turn my back on the hospitality industry and become a teacher instead. Although still studying, my hope for the future is to be able to teach food technology in the classroom. And my ultimate dream in life (a girl can dream, right?!) is to own a bakery/coffee shop run by myself of which would include all of my favourite recipes and creations.

Who knows, maybe one day I will make this happen, but for now, I will settle for a food blog to connect and share my recipes and talent with you lovely people.
